A pair of full color oil paintings of E.G. Robinson as the maniacal captain in "The Sea Wolf (WB 1940). These paintings were used as the artwork images for the various posters made for the original issue of the film. The one of him at the ship wheel appears on the three sheet size. During this process nearly 20 different images are painted for the poster art although not all are used. It is extremely rare that any of them survive as very few have found their way to the market, especially from the Golden Age and, as these are, representing a four star classic. They are on board and measure 22 X 28 inches. |
