"REBEL WITHOUT A CAUSE" Screen used script, Warner Bros. Studio ID Card, call sheets and multiple stills from Jack Grinnage (www.jackgrinnage.com) who played "Moose" one of the three main hoods. Jack saved this archive from this landmark film and had the script hardbound preserving the deletions, additions and changes the film went through as it was upgraded from a B/W second feature to a Warnercolor Widescreen feature which has now become a classic. Rare photos, with Jack's notes on the back, including two of a late night read through showing Dean wearing his glasses, Backus barely awake and Jack intently studying this very same script. The pass, which names the film, was to be surrendered upon receiving his final check, but kept by him anyway and was good only for the one picture.
Precious little survives from this film, much less a grouping from one of the participants. This script also contains the cut opening sequence of the film, when the hoods "roll" the old man for the Easter basket and get the wind up monkey. As fans of the film know, the final cut begining has Jim drunk on the sidewalk, playing with it, as he is arrested and takes it to the police station with no explanation of it's origin.
