PHOTOPLAY GOLD MEDAL.
This Award predates the Oscar's by almost a decade and was considered the most prestigious award a film could receive.
The advent of the Oscar did diminish the importance of the Gold Medal but they co existed for many years with the Magazine folding in 1980.
The larger Medal is SOLD.
We also have the smaller Tiffany made 14k gold example worn as a necklace or charm by recipients. This one was awarded to Academy Award Winning screenwriter Dudley Nichols, in 1946, for "BELLS OF ST. MARYS", and is so inscribed with his name and the date and comes with the original box from Tiffanys, NYC and a copy of the Feb. 1947 Awards issue which announced the winners.
