Peck wears this costume after arriving in his hometown and cleaning up behind the saloon, they being his "dress" clothes, and wears it the rest of the film. Considered one of the first "adult" westerns, Peck plays 'Johnny Ringo', a weary gunfighter who seeks rest and refuge by trying to pick up his life with his wife and son after many years of being the "fastest gun alive".
