IDA LUPINO hat from "I LOVE A MYSTERY" 1966

A campy send up of the classic radio program, it co-starred Don Knotts and Jack Weston, and was inspired by the TV success of "BATMAN", of which Miss Lupino would become a guest villain on. However, the quality was lacking and it was considered not good enough for broadcast and sat on the shelf for 7 years before finally hitting the airwaves in 1973. Now it is regarded in a higher degree and has become something of a cult favorite.

The hat has a sewn in Berman - Hollywood label with Lupino's name and is part of her lion tamer costume. Incidentally, Ms. Lupino, who was already well into her fine second career as a director, was known for wearing many such feathered hats while working behind the camera.
