"Hoss" Salesman's Sample vintage hat in original box made to market a licensed product at the height of the show's popularity during the 1960's . As with most Salesman's samples, this hat is of a miniature nature not being much larger than a child's hat. It is marked, in gold, on the inner band: "HOSS" Reg. Trademark U.S. Patent Office. Stitched to this band is an order form identifying the hat, color, mimimum order requirements (a dozen), prices per and the breakdown of sizes filled per each dozen ordered. The sizes ranged from a 6 1/8 to size 7 and grouped as small, medium, large and extra large. As small as this hat is it is labeled a medium and is made of 100% wool and is tan in color and exactly as worn by 'Hoss" on BONANZA. A true rarity as 1000's of hats may have been made and survived but only a handful of samples would have been required and it is doubtful any, like this one, are still around.
