Golden Globe Award
Awarded to icon Steve McQueen in 1969 when he was voted "World's Favorite Actor". This is a category no longer used and was in the news when Marilyn Monore's 1961 statue was sold by Christie's for $189,000.
Recipients of this award include John Wayne, Dean Martin, Joan Crawford and other true icons of Hollyowod's past. These awards differ from regular Globe awards in that they are mounted on black marble bases rather than white making them the same as what the Cecil B. DeMille Award looks like. Included is a picture of Steve receiving it, which shows the slender filial on the top, which has been removed, possibly by him. A recently shown documentory shows Laurence Oliver's and Red Skelton's breaking as they were being handed to them at the podium. The hole has been filled and smoothed as to not be noticable. |
