RKO Pierced Column From TOP HAT |

A five foot tall pierced Italian 19th Century column, seen in the bridal suite of the hotel in Italy in the Astaire and Rogers Classic 1935 RKO film, where much of the action takes place. Purchased from the PARAMOUNT sale and is so marked and labeled. It can also be seen in CITIZEN KANE (RKO 1941), in front of the giant Hercules statue at 'Xanadu' and in IRENE (RKO 1940), in the mansion, outside the double doors to the terrace during the color sequence of the Charity Ball, and later it used in episodes of THE UNTOUCHABLES (1959) under DESILU ownership. |
