A large humorous puppet, of a sitting duck, with articulated head and mouth made by famed puppeteer Mory Bunin for Dave Seville's July 1958 appearance on Dick Clark's "AMERICAN BANDSTAND" where he performed his top 40 hit "The Bird Sitting On My Head".
Three months earlier, Seville had been on the show singing his Number 1 hit "The Witchdoctor" which he also performed with a Bunin puppet, which we sold several years ago. Bunin was one of the most well known puppet creators who brought us "Lucky Pup" and "Foodini" and whose brother Lou made the puppets who appear in the opening credits of the "Ziegfeld Follies" (MGM 1946). He did many characters for 1950's commercials such as "Bucky Beaver" for IPANA Toothpaste and later went on to do the first singing chipmunks for Dave Seville before they were animated cartoon characters. Comes with a video of this performance from AMERICAN BANDSTAND, THE WITCH DOCTOR, Seville on Ed Sullivan with the Chipmunks and many more Bunin puppet appearances. The BUNIN collection was sold, at SOTHEBY'S in 1996, the year before Morey died.
