Two rare Pathe Studio items. The first, a bronze studio logo of the famed Pathe Rooster, standing atop two reels of film with leader strips, the front panel with raised letters announcing PATHE FRERES. This piece is unlike the more commonly used device of the rooster standing on a record disc used by the Phonograph division. It dates from 1918-1923, when Pathe sold their US interests and the word Freres (Brothers) was dropped from the company name. Cast in NY, this piece is most likely an automobile mascot as it has two threaded holes underneath for mounting. The second is a cast metal plaque signaling the merger of RKO and Pathe in 1931. This short lived logo lasted only for a year or so, during which time 17 films were released. It denoted the Culver City 40 Acres lot. RKO continued to produce the Pathe Newsreels, but under the RKO RADIO Pictures name until 1947.
