The thinking man's western, HAVE GUN WILL TRAVEL, like BONANZA, was produced at PARAMOUNT STUDIOS, just before and overlapping three years. Many of the props and set pieces used on HGWT also appear later on in BONANZA. These two stautes, were used as set decoration in the various rooms of the Carlton Hotel where Paladin lived in San Francisco. The tall Cavalier was part of a series, in different poses, that is seen in the Game room of the hotel, here redressed as a Gentlemen's club in New Orleans for the episode THE GLADIATORS (3.27 March 1960), on the mantle. The elephant is in the sitting room, in the first season episode THREE BELLS TO PERDIDO (1.1 Sept. 1957) on the ornate cabinet. The Turkish bust is in many episodes, including Paladin's room, but was sold to and sent back to a collector in Turkey. |
