Chief of Police costume from THE INSPECTOR GENERAL (WB 1949) and bearing their labels. In the storyline Kaye, who is mistaken for the real Inspector General, has no bags or wardrobe with him, so the Mayor orders the Chief to give him one of his uniforms, thus making the two costumes identical except for the extra decorations. The tunic for this costume is small and might be Danny' Kaye's but there is no doubting the pants are Hale's, due to the large waistline. . |
