Charles Chaplin Academy Award Nomination Plaque For "LIMELIGHT" for which he won his only competitive Oscar.

Although "LIMELIGHT" was offically released in 1952 it did not play in LA, per Academy rules due to Chaplin's political problems, hence it was not eligible for Oscar consideration then. When Chaplin returned to Hollywood in 1971, at the request of the Academy to be honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award, there was a retrospective of his films thus enabling "LIMELIGHT" to finally be considered. Known for it's haunting melodies and it's famous "Terry's Theme", which became the popular hit "I'll Be Loving You, Eternally", it went on to win the Academy Award for the Best Music Score.
Chaplin had been honored in 1928 with a Special Award for his wonderful achievement in writing, producing, directing and starring in "THE CIRCUS".
